At first, I liked Em well enough, and thought that she was actually the least annoying out of all the girls, but goodness, did things change. I just think that she can be too much of a hypocrite. The peak for me is that moment she was all up in Spencer's grill (she told Spence that she wished Spence would think of how she's hurting others with what she's doing) because Spencer decided not to tell them Toby's business with A and his mom (which is quite questionable, but understandable. After all, it wasn't Spencer's call). Then, several episodes later, she's stealing the key to Wilden's apartment from the PD, which has serious repercussions on her mom. HER MOM. Why does everyone hate Emily :(I find her to be one of the most likeable girls on the show ( her and spencer seem like "real" girls that I could be friends with). She is sweet, loyal, and in my opinion the most independent of all the girls. She's focused on her future and swimming and she has goals for herself beyond just finding a boyfriend/girlfriend. And she just seems very comfortable in her skin especially since she came out to everyone.The one thing I will say that annoys me about Emily is her relationship with paige. Paige is so annoying...I can't stand her! Like someone else here mentioned, it seems like Emily falls in love with anyone who likes her back, which is kind of weak.But I still consider Emily one of my favorite characters. I personally hate Emily she is too dramatic and when Ian dies she obsesses over the suicide note like I get it you love Alison and want to find out her killer but at a funeral?! She literally harasses Spencer about it when Spencer is dealing with the most at that point HELLO her sisters husband is dead! Then she goes and tells a police officer like what on earth your and a funeral you're supposed to mourn instead of forgetting to the reason you came. Also she literally dates someone who tries to kill her and gets angry when she wants to keep them a secret like major Deja vu isn't that what happened with you and Maya and Maya got upset you literally can not complain (sorry about that little rant )

She is so annoying. Every scene she has the same pathetically moronic frowning face. She always states the obvious like she's narrating what's happening. The fact that people say her storyline is inspiring to lesbo and and bisexuals is absolute rubbish - she hid in the closet for ages and then when she's finally out and has a girlfriend who isn't out she criticized her for it. I don't mean this to sound racist but I agree that she was probably only cast so that there was diversity in the race of the main cast.
