Think about how many coincidences happened in this episode. First fake parents just so happened to show up to Patrick's house on the exact same day, Patrick's actual parents are coming over. Then they just so happen to say everything that his actual parents would say, at so many steps. On top of that, they just so happen to forget they don't have a son both simultaneously thinking that Patrick is their son, and Patrick just so happens to forget what his parents look like. I'm not trying to persuade you either way with this, I just wanted you to think about all of that, because you probably never thought about any of that before. I half hate this episode and half like it. When I think about it from Patrick (and his "parents") point of view it's kind of a hilarious (but a little mean spirited) joke throughout but when you look at it from SpongeBob's point of view you can easily hate the episode altogether except for the very end where Patrick's real parents arrive and the twist is known. PATRICK is the stupid one for thinking two total STRANGERS where his parents!

As stupid as Patrick was for thinking that they were his parents, the two strangers were even more stupid, for forgetting that they don't have a son, then thinking Patrick was his son. Also, you can't blame Patrick when these two strangers are literally saying everything his real parents would be saying, and they just so happen to show up to his house on the exact same day his real parents are coming. Literally the odds of that happening are very very low. - scienceLover10

It's a little cruel to SpongeBob, but I think that the jokes are still very good. The twist is kind of funny and creepy at the same time, but I like it. Not my favorite, but a solid entry in the series.
