Heath Ledger literally transformed into this character. I've often challenged people to find Heath Ledger here. It is impossible: he simply is not here. Heath IS the Joker.I am just one man's opinion, but I will go to my grave believing that this performance should be heralded as the single greatest acting achievement of all time. Nothing else even comes close. He completely steals the show by becoming invisible in the role.Heath Ledger IS the Joker. His should be the first and last performance people think of when they consider the greatest acting performance of all time.Every actor will eventually achieve a level of greatness that catapults them to another level. This is without a doubt the single best acting performance I have ever seen. I pride myself in having watched several all time great movies, with outstanding acting (Literally every movie on this list) however none can surpass Heath Ledger's depiction of the Joker. His performance in this film gives me goosebumps every single time I watch it. His mannerisms and raw psychotic emotions send a shiver down my spine! Every scene he is in makes me smile from sheer amazement of how incredible one human being can act. Kudos to Heath Ledger. Rest in peace, you deserve it.

To call this a great performance is definitely a 110% correct! it is simply undeniable. But calling this piece the greatest of all time is not as bad of joke as it is merely an insult to some of the greatest performances ever. It is an insult to Daniel Day Lewis on my left foot or the Butcher in Gangs of New York, it is an insult to Sean Penn on Milk or Gary Oldman on..Nearly any film his made really... To Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone... I mean I could go all they long...it ia simply ludicrous...and even after that rant Ican tell you his performance is amazing...but not close to the best of all time.

I might b young - I might not know that well what amazing acting is; but this is quite obvious. I go a lot to the movies. I think I see a lot of great movies that have OK acting in them. When my brother took me to see this, I wasn't really to excited, since it is not rreallymy style. But boy was I surprised. The movie itself was good. Just good though. Heath Ledger thrilled me playing the Joker in the Dark Knight - he also scared me, amazed me and made me want more. So no... I might not know that much about acting; but I sure as hell know this is it looks like now.

It annoys me how commercialised Heath Ledger's Joker character became. But there's a reason. I sit and watch The Dark Knight and I cannot-for the life of me...believe that is him playing that role. I am searching for a slip up, so I can see that fellow Aussie guy underneath. But no matter how many times I watch it, you cannot identify that Heath is playing his character, because he does it with such amazing precision, that this will forever be his legacy.
