Pearl Jam is music I like to call Eargasm, or ear orgasm. They are amazing, and the best thing is, they're the only Grunge band to have never broken up or faded into obscurity. Instead, they have evolved, whether new direction is good or bad, and they have stuck with it. And although their early Grunge records, like Ten and Vs. Are still their best, I also appreciate how they tried new things instead of sticking with their Grunge sound because it's more comfortable. They still release albums, and they're the only grunge band that's still alive and kicking. Eddie Vedder has one of the best voices in the music industry, and they seem to be the only grunge band that never lost a member(s) to heroin addiction. People credit Nirvana as the best grunge band ever, and they are good, but Pearl Jam is way better. Their music is great, and Vedder's voice is simply better than Cobain's.

Nirvana is the poster band of the Movement, and was the first successful grunge band, and no doubt with "Nevermind" had the best Grunge album, but Pearl Jam has more soul, and they are still around. Like all great bands their legend will only grow over time. They may seem second fiddle now to Nirvana (Grunge's Beatle's), but they will be at least a Grunge Rolling Stones, and their best album may yet lie ahead?.

I am so sick of seeing nirvana at #1, Pearl Jam is by far the best, there is no other contenders, their band chemistry and ability to stay together and not die off for 20 plus years just proves how incredible their music is. They put out great albums and will continue for the next 10+ years.

Well there first 3 albums have out sold Nirvanas only 3 studio albums. Alice in chains highest selling album only sold a third as much as Ten. Pearl Jam is the best band on this list. Nirvana sucks and alice in chains were mediocre at best.

I don't think alice in chains should be second because to me they never really had the punk influence that most grunge bands had, they also didn't really have the non partying lifestyle that was part of the grunge philosophie

Logan Ruckman is^ 100% correct. Nothing comes close to the emotional intensity that Pearl Jam has in every one of their songs. There's something about it that just reverberates in your heart and soul and makes your mind go numb with pleasure

Nirvana is great, but Pearl Jam has equally good musicians, and a better songwriter, while Nirvana undoubtedly had more hits and Alive and Chains is more unique, Pearl Jam is just more talented and is still relavent and still performs, something not many bands can do for 20+ years, plus, Nirvana is the most overrated band, and I cant really say much about Alice in Chains since I dont really listen to them.
