Chrono Trigger; as ridiculously shallow and easy as both games may be, at least EB doesn't get massively praised for things that it didn't actually invent (cough, real-time turn-based combat and lack of random battles, cough) and also VERY openly encourage the infamous "graphics over gameplay" approach to game design the way that CT does (speaking of which, at least Earthbound also provides a bit more of a challenge overall, albeit largely artificially) - xandermartin98
