I am fluent in Dhivehi. And yes, it is very hard even though. I am fluent in Arabic also and the Dhivehi letters share similarities with Arabic but their pronunciation is a lot different. The nice thing about speaking this language is that while in the Maldives speaking the language, you will get treated a lot better than all the other tourists.
