After nearly a decade of Super Mario side scrollers being way too easy with the New Super Mario Bros. games, Mario Maker is the side scrolling Mario game I have spent my whole life waiting for. It gives you so much power and probably helps some kids realize their dreams. Not saying it's meant to be GOTY or even #1 or #2, but this is such a fun game that it at least deserves top ten. There are games out there that are better than this one, more deserving of awards (like Undertale) but it's hard to find a game more fun and child-empowering.
