This is lower than HALO 4?! Seriously?! This is the game that started it all! This had more action than any other game! Yeah it had stuff that we didn't like but it was still AWESOME! I remember the first time playing 343 guilty spark when I encountered the flood. but nowadays when I play it I still get a chill up my spine hearing that eerie background music and the noise of the infection forms crawling around! Then at those intense moments when there is a zealot in the room invisible with a sword, THAT moment taught me. By far the most interesting Campaign, and a simple and engaging multiplayer on the PC. The weapons, however, will always be the standout. I am very confused still on how this game isn't #1. Although this game has bad graphics, which I'm OK with, the quality of the video game completely masks it. Its kinda but not really comparable to Call of Duty just with aliens. I'm not saying it's a copy but they are both good games.

Best fps ever, and one of the greatest games ever. Had the most open campaign, with levels that are still a blast to play today. Multiplayer is also great, with outstanding maps such as Hang em' High, Sidewinder, and of course Blood Gulch. LAN parties with this game are to date one of the greatest experiences you can have in all of video games. Truly a masterpiece which deserves to be higher on this list.

Halo CE has set a benchmark for the FPS genre never met for 17 years. Its campaign had an excellent storyline that outlined satisfying themes such as heroism, trust and much more. Its atmosphere and tone was always perfectly set from the wondrous and magical feeling of Halo itself arching over you to the terrifying flood. The level design was as grandiose as its plot. Along with intricately balanced gunplay, AI and mechanics, it made for a combat experience unmatched by no other FPS. Each battle in CE's notorious Legendary difficulty felt like a puzzle in which I considered my availability of weapons and ammo and my allies and hostiles to produce decisions in how I would like to approach the battle. The amount of different weapons is not nearly matched by other Halos, but they served varying roles and they were enough to stop external weapons from damaging the delicate gameplay balance CE has so well achieved.
