I feel so bad for Ryder. He wasn't even meant to be the traitor character in the first place, and even if that's the case, when you kill him in the "Pier 69" mission, his death is literally normal as if he's just some random civilians or Ballas' members you would meet on the street. Meanwhile, Smoke's death is actually shown in a cutscene, and they do give the dialogue explaining why Smoke betrays the Grove Street families. I wish Ryder wasn't the traitor, he never deserve to be one, even after you killed him, he's never mentioned at all for the rest of the storyline. - Hoenn4Ever

He's best character in the game and should have been in more missions and was left out when he was with big smoke. In mission #27 "the green sabre" it showed Ryder and Big smoke exiting a room with ballas and CJ just said " what did Big smoke get into" not even thinking about Ryder. Which you would think he would say something about Ryder since Ryder was a main character in earlier missions. If Ryder had to die he should of had a better death.

Believe it or not, he wasn't originally intended to be a sellout like Smoke. He was one of my favorite characters during the early stages of the game and he is really a gangsta in everything. Shame that he wasn't really given a significant role mid-game aside from having to kill him in Pier 69. - Bolshoy_Brat

This guy may be a traitor. But this guy is the best. So what makes him the best? He almost killed our protagonist that's what you do not see from any antagonist. Tenpenny and Pulaski didn't. Dimitri and Bulgarin never gets niko or roman. That what makes ryder unique.
