Tourniquet is extremely underrated for two reasons. First off, they came very late into the thrash metal scene, not releasing their first album until 1990. Onto the music, this band doesn't play just thrash, but also progressive metal and neoclassical metal. Lyrics are more than just typical Christian lyrics and generic themes. They deal with serious issues like animal abuse and even attack other Christian denominations and cults in A Dogs Breakfast. Ted Kirkpatrick is an incredibly versatile drummer. Of all the cheesy Christian metal bands, Tourniquet seems to have impressed me the most. While other groups like Deliverance and Vengeance Rising are essentially Slayer ripoffs, Tourniquet is their own band, with their own style of music.

Forget about the lyrics. Ted Kirkpatrick is one of the greatest drummers you've never heard of. If he was a secular drummer, he'd be up there with Neil Peart, Carl Palmer, and Bill Bruford as one of the greatest rock drummers of all time.
