Thrash Metal is my favourite music genre and I think that pretty much every band included in it has an incredible ability to compose music. but to my ears Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth and Testament have something that differenciates them from every other band; something that elevates them. Anthrax has one of the best vocalists ever and also afforded to combine Thrash Metal with Rap. Slayer has incredible speed and heaviness, Metallica has wonderful melodies, solos and some of the best lyrics in the history of music. I also liked his "experimentations" (Load, ReLoad and St. Anger). Megadeth is technically invincible and has lots of divine solos. Testament is basically a band that takes every peculiarity of a typical Thrash Metal band and brings them to a whole new level. These are the bands that I think should be in the top 5 (I don't mind the order) so I vote for Anthrax because they don't deserve to be any number below 5 in the list.

Personally my favorite band of the Big Four because they have the sound that comes to mind when the words thrash metal are brought up. They helped shape my tastes in modern party and crossover-thrash such as Municipal Waste and Violator. I much prefer their first four albums than the first four albums of the other bands in the Big Four. Without them I would not have gotten into the harder and heavier thrash bands with similar styles Overkill, Exodus, and Destruction. I love the chanty brotherhood-style backup vocals that Anthrax has with their more street hardcore sound. They spoke to me as they reminded me of the streets I grew up on. True thrash with street and adolescent themes.

I'm not a huge thrash fan. I find all the bands sound the same and repetitive but anthrax is my one exception. Joey is probably my favourite metal vocalist and Frank Bello is an amazing bassist. I've migrated to other metal genres now and I've left behind most of thrash but Anthrax remains to be one of my favourites. Among the Living and Spreading the disease are classic albums and Indians is my all time favourite Anthrax song.

A hundred times better than metallica or megadeth, while they are only famous for their first few works, anthrax has good songs from the very beginning until today. charlie benante is the greatest drummer ever, scott ian is like sonic the hedgehog on rythym guitar, frank bello is a monster on the bass, joey is by far the best big 4 singer, and all of their lead guitarists can play solos ten times better than hammet or mustaine. id say they're twice as good as slayer, as quite a few of slayer songs sound too alike. anthrax also has a sense of humor, and made a rap song, which was wonderful. and while kreator and testament are better than metallica and megadeth, they don't deserve to be higher than anthrax

Anthrax aren't thrash, they're a speed metal band like Flotsam and Jetsam. Thrash doesn't rely on speed to make it thrash, hence 'For Whom The Bell Tolls', but early Anthrax did. It's splitting hairs admittedly, because 'Among The Living' is borderline thrash, but the comedic element diminishes it somewhat. Great band though, no question.

I think Anthrax is the best of the so called Big 4. Joey Belladonna is one of the best singers in metal, Scott Ian is an incredibly fast rhythm guitar player and Charlie Benante is a monster on the drums. Definitely should be higher than six if not number 1.

Metallic and Megadeth might be better but not by a lot. Anthrax's songs are full of kickass riffs and solos, the drumming in every song is superb and the singing... It's amazing. Such an underrated band. One of the best metal bands of all time for sure.
