Why, why, why are they so underrated? They are not even too well known nowadays. Their music was just as perfect as any other band. I think Guns N' Roses gets more praise than this fantastic band, but, Guns N' Roses only had one amazing album, and a couple of great songs. The Beach Boys at least had a hit or three on every album. Even their filler songs are great! There's Pet Sounds, Today!, Summer Days and Summer Nights, All Summer Long, Surfin' U.S.A, true rock albums. I am proud to be a Beach Boys fan, just to know their story and their music makes me such a genius in music. They would be second or third for me.

Guns N Roses has much more than a couple good songs. More than half of their songs are amazing. GnR is much better than the beach boys - MrSnuffleupagus

How these guys aren't in the top 5 blows my mind. They are the reason the Beatles music got even better and it took all 4 Beatles to match the genius of Brian Wilson! Not to mention that SO many hits were done in such a short time until Brian had his breakdown because people weren't ready for his genius. Pet sounds #2 best album ever... in my opinion #1. Just imagine if Brian made more albums...

I hate to see how bad their music has aged. These guys and The Beatles were influencing each other back and forth all the time. Without Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper's wouldn't have happened. Paul McCartney called Brian Wilson the greatest genius in pop music, his favorite song is 'God only knows'. Now these days, even though The Beatles and The Beach Boys had a similar style and were at times competing for best band in the world, nowadays even the biggest idiot in the world will tell you The Beatles made timeless music of a quality never to be reached again, while The Beach Boys are only that weird group that sang about surfing and cars, not to be taken seriously. While The Beatles take the top position on this list, The Beach Boys are just 54th, not even shown on the front page.
