This is not only unquestionably the best Weezer album but also the greatest album of all time, at least in my opinion. No other album I've ever listened to was written with such raw passion and emotion. It is an absolute masterpiece. As a long time Weezer fan I feel every album has its merits, and they're all a fun listen, and no album has not and will not ever match this in terms of melody, song-writing, lyrics, etc. and it is unfair to compare the other Weezer albums to Pinkerton just because nothing will ever come close to it. If you could write perfection in the form of music, this is what it would sound like. - evoxpisces

Hated the debut album with its buzzing low-fi guitars and alternative aesthetics. For my money, without Pinkerton Weezer would have ended up something like The Breeders, a sort of gimmick-y one hit wonders from the 90s, a mere footnote and anybody who had bought the blue album would be embarrassed now to admit that they did.Pinkerton showed a new found sense of dynamics and a great leap in songwriting. Really it turned Weezer into a real rock band. By far the greatest album of the nineties, a truly landmark record. - tommydeath

The most abrasive album by Weezer, and lyrics by Mr. Cuomo himself during his time in Harvard, this album I would call a masterpiece. I mean really, even the first track (Tired of Sex) got me on edge to jump and headbang all around. Anyway, this album really captures the emotion felt by Cuomo which is love and pain and it will even make anti-Weezer fans surprised for it's raw production and abrasive sound. I recommend to just about anyone buy the whole album to listen this masterpiece

You should all know there is a split between people who like all of Weezer, and people who love the Blue Album and Pinkerton but can't stand the rest. The people who cut it off at Pinkerton do it because it is a masterpiece that will never be duplicated and it drained all the emotion from Rivers so that he stopped writing true meaningful music. Every song of of Pinkerton could be a hit today. - mikeford

Across the Sea is definitely the best song on this album, and other than that is has overall great songs. A departure from their polished, more pop oriented debut, Pinkerton has a heavier, more live/abrasive sound. It works excellent though and really captures the emotions of the singer, Rivers Cuomo, very well.

This is one of the greatest albums...ever. Pinkerton is an extremely confessional and personal album for Rivers Cuomo. Its extremely dark as well, with many songs about "could've beens" and depression. It is also one of the first "emo" albums. No, not the whiny teenage emo you hear nowadays, but and older type when emo was real music.

The blue album was perfect. It was hook heavy power pop with twisted harmonies and pure, though sometimes cheesy lyrics. Although you couldnt help feel that weezer, particularly rivers, was holding back something. That something was raw, untainted emotion. As a somewhat nerdy, white, straight man, this album really speaks to me. But really this album is for anyone, not just rivers demographic. Rivers had a depressing year previous to this album which really comes through everything on the albums. The distorted guitars twist in a wail of pain, cuomos voice is so confessional and beautiful, and yet still abrasive in the best possible way. Though the blue album is fantastic it feels so distinctly nineties (not that that's a bad thing) but Pinkerton is timeless. The lyrics resonate with me today even if theyre heavy on nineties references. If blue was a ten this was an eleven, or a twelve. Best album of the nineties.

Emotion is where this album hits. I feel like Rivers Cuomo really set the stakes when he made this one, but damn it was a VERY GOOD IDEA. Blue is also very very good, but Pinkerton gets the vote because it has the emotional and honest connection. I will never forget this album growing up. - TheClue1107
