You've got to go for the Romans in this case. They were incredibly advanced for their time, and had some good concepts we took a long time to invent. The Roman empire lasted 450 years and that doesn't include it's stage as a republic or it's stage as the Byzantine empire. Plus the Romans influenced most of the empires that came after it on this list.
