The Black Death has the highest death toll of any single event. The only reason the Holocaust, 9/11, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and Pearl Harbor are on the list is because of disproportionately high media attention and too many American voters. The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ being on this list is absolutely ridiculous. The death of one man we don't even know existed doesn't outweigh the deaths of millions.

In regards to the last reply, "Grow up" seems harsh. The Black plague killed much of the human population - even in those times, that's a whole lot more than 6 million. Okay who are the idiots here saying 9-11 is the second worst event in human history. Because that is the stupidest thing ever. The black plague killed 50 million people (2/3 of the European population) and 9-11 killed a few thousand. I guarantee all the people that voted for 9-11 are all american. the holacaust I can see why people voted for because that killed 1000 times more people than in 9-11. This List is out of wack. Most of these Top Tens are just what Americans care about the most (and I am an American). This event killed one third of the world population and deserves to be higher on the list. The other Top Tens, although tragic, are not as bad as The Black Plague. I understand that it didn't affect the Western Hemisphere much (if at all), but it devastated the Eastern Hemisphere.

The list isn't out of whack. Each of these things are equally as terrible. It isn't just about how many people died either. You have to consider the way that they died and other things too. Even though thousands of people died from a bomb or etc, there are also things in this list that inflicted so much pain on people like the holocaust for instance. that's the reason that they're ranked so high.
