I was four years old when this happened, and man, let me tell you, I was crying like the world was going to end. Everyone thought I was smart for a four year old, and that I acted like a six year old, but I still cried like crazy. My parents were on the couch watching television, while I, was running back and forth in the living room. My parents told me what had happened, but I didn't understand what a terrorist was, or what an accidental mishap was, either. I just understood their tones of voice was very serious, and I was a cheerful child. Just knowing that they were very serious made me upset, and when they started crying, I lost it. I don't understand how anyone in the right mind could fly themselves into a tower, killing lots and lots of people. Don't tell me they weren't in their right minds, because I know they were. How could someone insane fly an airplane, pass security, and hit directly into the tower. I know they weren't being right with their right mind, but they were in ... more

I wasn't alive then but from what I heard you didn't want to be alive to witness this day. It is horrible what people can do to others. This event didn't just wipe out 2 skyscrapers and thousands of people, but affected the minds and hearts of many. That's because of war and terrorism, we cannot be safe no matter where we are. It is sad to think of the world this way but its very much the truth. I visited the 2 pools and could look up and almost see the 2 brave towers standing so high up, even though I never got to see these structures in real life. To all the families shattered and to our panicked government, I hope this helps us improve for the future and show us what really people could do to one another.

Its now been 19 years as of 9/11/20 since the attacks. America has never been the same since them. May God bless all those lost innocent souls as well as everyone who was impacted negatively after it.

I don't think that any tragedy is worse than the other. But I certainly think this one saddened me the most. 12,000 died in Galveston, 200,000 in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, yet only 3000 in 9/11. I wasn't born yet when this happened. But my dad thought he was gonna die that day. He wasn't in the twin towers. He wasn't even in New York. But he was in a big building in Maryland. He was working at NASA when he looked at a ceiling T.V. to see a plane run into the South tower. He thought a small plane hit the North tower because he was thinking to himself "why would a big commercial airliner run into a tall tower" (Because that is very unlikely to happen). But a huge explosion covered a third of the screen after that. He feared that a plane would hit his building. So he asked his boss if he could be excused. And he got out of that building as quickly as possible. He later heard more news on September 12 that the planes were hijacked, the towers collapsed, the Pentagon was hit, and that a ... more

No offense, but this shouldn't be so high up on the list. Don't get me wrong, these attacks are by far one of the worst tragedies USA has ever suffered, if not THE worst, but.. seriously? People think this deserves to be higher up on the list than the Black Plague? WWI and WWII? The Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings? What. The. Hell. This is like the world out over the death of a ' gorilla, but remaining dead silent at the news of, let's say, Haiti's 2010 earthquake (which had over 100,000 casualties, mind you--even now, millions of Haitians STILL need help recovering! ). By the way, I myself am American--just putting that out there for anyone who may assume I'm not or that I don't give a crap about America's tragedies. I do. I'm just saying that placing this as #2 on a list of the world's absolute worst tragedies is rather dense.

I was in school in 5th grade when it happened. I wasn't even in the USA. I was in the Dominican Republic. The principal of the school did let us all out early, and no one knew why. Then when I got home at 11:00am I realized something was wrong. In the Dominican Republic every street was empty... I WAS SO scared! I did not know why. Then I got home and I thought the world was going to end... I just hope God does not allow something like that to happen again... :(

The fact that 9/11 attacks are number 2 on this list just proves how many people are not informed enough aka not educated enough. For those who don't know, these attacks were organized by the USA government itself (it has been PROVEN by scientists, architects, etc.) so the fact that anyone feels bad for USA is just ridiculous. The only people I feel bad about are the victims and their families.Also, these attacks took lives of about 3000 people. However, during WW2, over 60 million people lost their lives whether they were military or civilians. It is MIND BLOWING to me that someone has the audacity to put 9/11 attacks so high on this list in comparison to many other tragedies that happened throughout the history.To sum up, instead of watching reality shows and other stupid things on T.V., read a book or watch a documentary. Educate yourself. More importantly, DO NOT talk about something you now NOTHING or VERY LITTLE about. It's not only INSULTING, but it is also extremely ... more - Teodora93

9/11 shocked the united states just like the attack on pearl harbor did because the united states thinks they are so powerful. 9/11 is not one of the most terrible event in human history but is ceternly worthy of being on top 10 or 15. Hate me as much you want but the united states is a bully as a nation against others. Vietnam War as a exampel. A superpower sent over 1.5 million soldiers against the communist vietnam. The biggest economy the united states the superpower sent 1.5 million people to deal with communist in vietnam. The north vietnamese fought extremly good. Did the north vietnamese deserve this? No, The South Vietnam leadar declared himself as the president and executed everyone suspious of being a socialist or communist.The 9/11 event was a terrible event but not worthy of a top 3

You won't like this comment -In honesty America brought this attack upon themselves, terrible as it was I'm sure all the "ground zero's" America inflicted (Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Native Americans, Grenada, Panama) on other countries don't matter as long as it's not happening in your own backyard. That's why it's foolish that this is ranked so highly, yet not more tragic than ranking tragedies online."Americas chickens are coming home to roost" - MX

You don't have to believe me if you don't want to, butI WAS IN New York WHEN 9/11 HAPPENED.I was taking a bus trip from lower to upper Manhattan. The bus passed the World Trade Center, and the North Tower was burning. Then, the other plane hit the South Tower and there was a huge noise and a fireball. A bunch of pieces of the twin towers fell on the bus. The driver told everybody to get out. It was crazy man.
