The reason why this is ranked number one for best movies is the same reason Bohemian Rhapsody is ranked number one for best songs. Just like Bohemian Rhapsody feels like a bunch of mini songs to make up one large song, Forrest Gump doesn't feel like one movie, it feels like a bunch of mini movies, meant to create one continuous narrative. That is why this movie is so great, because almost every major part of this movie can be expanded out into an entire movie.

That's the only thing that matters. It's a form of entertainment. That's why you see so many "film experts" trying to downplay great movies like this one.

A movie full of encouragement, self-esteem and hope. Very inspirational and must watch of every young people and can get a lot lesson in life. Tom Hanks was such a very good actor especially on this role. I could even cry all over again while watching this movie. My left and right thumbs are thumbing!

This is a great movie, but come on, it's by far NOT the best film EVER. It's a charming heartwarming story, but it's less artistic like Godfather and Barry Lyndon.
